A police officer belonging to the area of Chicago was dragged outside Kohls store in Romeoville this Thursday. The officers in the suburban area of Chicago responded to a call of professed shoplifting. The call was made at shortly after ten p.m. and was made by Kohls store which was reporting shoplifting of clothes.

As the officers reached the store, the man trying to shoplift, fled outside the door towards a waiting car. ‘The officer was struggling with the subject as he got into the car and then the car started to move as the officer was partially inside the car. The officer was dragged quite some distance. He couldn’t get out.’ informed Romeoville Police Chief, Mark Turvey, at a news conference conducted in the suburbs, thirty miles southwest of Chicago.  The Police Chief further informed reporters that when the shoplifters refused to stop, the backup officer shot three bullets at the driver, one of which struck him in the shoulder. This made the driver stop and the police arrested the two men with another man still inside the store.

‘We are cooperating with the authorities leading the investigation and are referring all media inquiries to police,’ said Kohls spokeswomen Sydney Hofer in an email on Friday, refusing to disclose further information. The 52 year old driver and the officer were both taken to the hospital. The officer was discharged from the hospital whereas the Romeoville Police department reveals that the driver is still hospitalized.
