The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in an ongoing Child Exploitation investigation.
It is alleged that:
– a man engaged a young boy, through social media, in sexually-based chats
– the man sent the young boy a webcam in the mail to further exploit him
On Tuesday, December 10, 2013, the Toronto Police Sex Crimes Unit – Child ExploitationSection executed a search warrant at a home in the Finch Avenue West/Albion Road area.
Shawn Eghterafi, 20, was arrested. He is charged with:
1) Luring a Child (Under 16)
2) Invitation to Sexual Touching
He is scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West, in courtroom 206, on Friday, December 13, 2013, at 10 a.m.
Investigators believe there may be more victims.
Shawn Eghterafi has used the aliases “Shawn Eght” and “Jim Wilson” on Facebook, “shawn.eghterafi” on Skype, and has used the following email addresses: shawn.eght@hotmail.com, shawn_eght@hotmail.com, shawn_eghterafi@hotmail.com, and shawneghterafi@hotmail.com.
It is also known that he has attended the Association of Friends of Persian Culture conference near Chicago, Illinois, for some years, and has met boys there.
