Charges have been filed against a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man at 10601 Edgar about 5:15 p.m. on Thursday (Dec. 12).

The suspect, Jonathon McCrimmon (b/m, DOB: 12-14-95), is charged with murder in the 176th State District Court.

The victim, Samuel Quinton Thompson, 23, of Houston, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he died the following day (Dec. 13).

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Brady and Officers E. Zugner and J. Dominguez reported:

Three males in their late teens to early 20s, and all acquaintances, got into a vehicle to conduct a narcotics transaction. One of the males pulled out a gun and a struggle ensued. At some point during the struggle, Mr. Thompson was shot. The suspect fled the scene on foot. The driver of the vehicle drove to a vacant lot in the 9500 block of Scott Street and called 9-1-1. Thompson was then taken by HFD paramedics to the hospital where he died.

Further investigation identified McCrimmon as a suspect in this case and, on Friday (Dec. 13), he was arrested without incident by members of the HPD Homicide Division, the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force and the Pearland Police Department.
