Environment Canada has issued a critical freezing rain warning for Toronto early Monday morning. In a statement issued on the federal agency’s website on Sunday, it cautioned that “an intensifying low over Arkansas will be heading towards Southern Ontario,” which are anticipated to bring bad winter weather. The warning alleged that the trickiest part in this wave of winter will be for drivers, especially when the temperature will dramatically drop to as low as -11C, thus creating a flash freeze and black ice.

In the statement issued by Environment Canada, it was alleged that “these cold, brisk winds will also likely produce widespread dangerous wind chills beginning Monday night as some of the coldest air in years blasts across the region.” A senior climatologist at Environment Canada, David Phillips, feared that yet another spell of freezing rain will really blow everything out of proportion. He explained that after being hit hard with an ice storm followed by record-breaking cold temperatures, it feels like this winter has been more aggressive than those in past years.

However, Phillips alleged that “people shouldn’t be scared,” as adding that “the little interludes between the bad news have been so brief. We had the ice storm and then we got this nasty cold and we had one day to get ready for the next blast. It’s just wearing us out. Our resiliency is being tested.” Later on, Phillips commented that “Americans are blaming us, but we’re blaming Texas, so there’s a lot of blame to go around,” after which he added that “it’s really Arctic air and Gulf of Mexico air, but it makes us feel better if we can point the finger at somebody else.”
