A 22-year-old man from Caraquet, N.B. appeared in Caraquet Provincial Court on January 28, 2014 to face charges related to an investigation by the RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit with assistance from the Caraquet Detachment of the RCMP.
Jonathan LaPlante has been charged with possession of child pornography and making child pornography available.
The charges come as the result of search conducted by police on October 31, 2013, at the home of the 22-year-old, where his computer and other computer relatedequipment was seized.
LaPlante is scheduled to return to court on March 4 to enter a plea. He has also been placed on conditions not to be at places where children under 16 years of age may be present, not to reside with children under the age of 16 without appropriate responsible adult supervision and not to have access to the internet except for work.
