Family members of a missing Halifax student have made a nation-wide plea for the public’s assistance in finding her twenty-six-year-old sister, Loretta Saunders. During the press conference, it was revealed that Saunders is three months pregnant and has not been seen since February 13, and that her family fears the worst after her car was discovered in Ontario.

Saunders studies criminology at St. Mary’s University focusing on incidents of murdered and missing aboriginal women in Canada. While making a statement at the press conference, Saunders’ sister, Deliliah Terriak, stated that “my sister is a brilliant, beautiful, kind-hearted, generous and loving person.” 21-year-old Terriak made an appeal to the members of public to come forward in case they have any potential information that could lead to her sister’s whereabouts. Especially if anyone witnessed her sister’s car, i.e. a blue Toyota Celica with the Newfoundland and Labrador plate HCP 543, which is distinctive due to its rear spoiler and an aftermarket exhaust that makes it loud.

Ontario Police have charged Saunders’ roommates with possession of stolen goods and fraud after her car was found in Harrow, Ont., south of Windsor, earlier this week. According to RCMP in Halifax, 25-year-old Blake Leggette and 28-year-old Victoria Henneberry are scheduled to return to court in Windsor, Ontario, on Friday for a bail hearing, and they have arrest warrants for the pair and plan to take them to back to Nova Scotia to face charges. Terriak, who held the press conference with help from Nova Scotia Native Women’s Association, revealed that she did not know the pair.
