Halifax District RCMP have arrested a Metro Transit bus driver following an investigation into allegations of sexual assault.
Yesterday morning at approximately 10:30 a.m., Halifax District RCMP received a complaint about a 35-year-old woman from Cole Harbour alleging she had been sexually assaulted on several occasions while traveling on a Halifax Metro Transit Access-a-Bus. The RCMP investigation revealed that the victim, a frequent user of the Access-a-Bus service in the Cole Harbour area, had been assaulted numerous times over a two week period while she was a passenger on the bus.
In mid-afternoon, Halifax District RCMP arrested a 66-year-old male driver at work and took him into custody without incident. The Cole Harbour man faces seven counts of Sexual Assault, seven counts of Unlawful Confinement and seven counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Person with Disabilities. He was released from custody and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on April 16th, 2014. The investigation is continuing.
