Investigators with the York Regional Police Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses following a fatal pedestrian collision in the City of Vaughan.

On Friday, March 14, 2014, at approximately 6 a.m., a red Ford Ranger pick-up truck travelling westbound on Highway 7 West, struck a pedestrian that was crossing Highway 7 just west of Pine Valley Drive. The pedestrian, a 72-year-old man from the City of Vaughan was without vital signs at the scene and was taken to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the pick-up truck remained at the scene and was not injured.

Highway 7 West has been re-opened.

The investigation is ongoing.
