Toronto police charged three Vaughan suspects in connection to York University $1.6M Fraud investigation

On Wednesday, March 19, 2014, Toronto Police Service Financial Crimes arrested three people in relation to a Fraud investigation.

It is alleged that:

– between November 2005 and October 2012, three employees were involved in the misappropriation of funds from York University, in a fraudulent billing scheme

– losses incurred by York University totalled $1,603,529

On March 19, 2014, three people were arrested.

Vittoria Caparello, 51, of Vaughan, was charged with:

1) two counts of Fraud – Over ($5,000)

She appeared in court at College Park, on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 2 p.m.

Yossi Zaidfeld, 38, of Vaughan, was charged with:

1) Fraud – Over ($5,000)

He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Monday, April 28, 2014, at 11 a.m.

Melissa Caparello, 27, of Vaughan, was charged with:

1) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under ($5,000)

She is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Monday, April 28, 2014, at 11 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing. Further arrests and charges are anticipated.
