Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 9700 Leawood about 12:25 a.m. today.
The victim, Rene Almeida, 51, was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital.
HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer B. Evans and Officer S. Overstreet reported:
Mr. Almeida was working as a security guard at a condominium complex at the above address when he got into an altercation with a person trying to gain access to the complex. At some point, the suspect assaulted Almeida and then shot him several times. The suspect then fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
