Ottawa police investigate regarding a fatal vehicle collision claiming a woman pedestrian’s life at Parkdale Avenue

The Ottawa Police Collision Investigation Unit was called out earlier today to investigate a fatal collision involving a motor vehicle and pedestrian on Parkdale Avenue north of Inglewood Place within the City of Ottawa. The collision had occurred at approximately 10:22am today. 

A vehicle attempted to parallel park on the east side of Parkdale Avenue. The 80 year-old male driver reversed into the space and struck one vehicle parked behind him. 

A 56 year-old female pedestrian ran out from the east sidewalk of Parkdale Avenue in front of his vehicle after she saw the collision. The driver accelerated forward striking a second parked vehicle in front of him and running over the female pedestrian. 

The vehicle mounted the west curb and stopped on the lawn of 736 Parkdale Avenue. 

Ottawa Paramedics were first on scene at this collision and transported the female to an area hospital. The female succumbed to her injuries. 

The identity of the involved is not being released at this time. The driver and victim were known to each other. 

The Ottawa Police Collision Investigation Unit is investigating this collision. No further information is available at this time. 

Parkdale Avenue was re-opened several hours later to complete the road investigation.
