Suspect Ricky Nelson Goodwin charged with intoxication manslaughter in a fatal traffic accident at 9400 Gulf Freeway

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident at 9400 Gulf Freeway (Interstate Highway 45 South) about 2:30 a.m. on Saturday (April 26).

The suspect, Ricky Nelson Goodwin (b/m, 27), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 208th State District Court.  He is accused for his role in the death of a female, 28.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer C. Sartor reported:

Goodwin was driving a gray Dodge Challenger at a high rate of speed southbound on the Gulf Freeway when his vehicle struck a Houston Fire Department pumper truck blocking traffic for another accident on the freeway.  Paramedics pronounced a female passenger of the Challenger dead at the scene.  Goodwin sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from Ben Taub General Hospital.  Two HFD employees inside the pumper truck were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
