Calgary Double Stabbing Leaves Two Dead, One Injured

A stabbing incident in southeast Calgary has resulted in death of two women while another is in hospital as of early Sunday evening. Emergency services responded to a call that brought them to 6400 block of Penbrooke Dr. S.E. at around 6:30 p.m. following reports of a stabbing at a home on the street.

According to Calgary police officers, a woman in her 30s was found dead at the scene while the second woman, also in her 30s, was taken to Foothills Hospital where she passed away a short while later. However, a third woman still remains in hospital with non-life-threatening condition. In his report, Det. Torrey Killam alleged that police arrested a male near the scene, who seems to have sustained injured and might have also been taken to hospital. Investigators suspect that the incident was not a random attack.

A neighbor, Brian Racette, claimed to have been playing video games when he heard cries from the house next door. According to Racette, “I heard a bunch of loud ladies, screaming” so “I looked outside and there was a bunch of police officers running up to the house.” He explained that “I heard my neighbour say, ‘somebody call an ambulance because she’s not breathing.’ ” In addition to that, Racette alleged that “(she) had pass away in her arms as she was trying to save her,” adding that “my neighbour was covered in blood.” The house is cordoned off the front and back in the alleyway as they Police investigated.
