A 56-year-old man from the Esgenoôpetitj First Nation will appear in Miramichi Provincial Court on May 8, 2014 in connection with an ongoing police investigation into a number of sex crimes. The RCMP arrested the man in Esgenoôpetitj on May 7 without incident.

Three alleged victims have come forward in this case. The alleged crimes date from 1977 to 1996.

The Northeast District RCMP have been investigating the case since March 2014.
