Elderly Hamilton pedestrian dies in a fatal traffic collision on Mohawk Road West at Penlake Court

On Tuesday, May 6th 2014, at 11:41am, police were called in regards to a collision on Mohawk Road West at Penlake Court.  The collision occurred between a motor vehicle and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 79 yr-old male Hamilton resident, was walking across on Mohawk Road West, southbound, when he was struck by an eastbound Ford Escape being driven by another 79 yr-old male Hamilton resident.  The pedestrian suffered life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.  A short time after arriving at the hospital the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries.  The driver was uninjured.

The investigation is ongoing. Speed and alcohol have been ruled out.

This collision marks the 3rd fatal collision of 2014 and the 2nd pedestrian death.
