Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is reported to have celebrated his 45th birthday on Wednesday night at a bar in Bracebridge, Ont., i.e. where he is currently attending a rehab facility for his drinking problems. According to an employee at Crabby Joe’s Tap & Grill in Bracebridge, the mayor did visit the bar on Wednesday night but he was “not served a drop of alcohol.” He alleged that the mayor “had a nice birthday meal with family.”

A CBC report claims that Mr. Ford visited the bar with his two children and two women the employees did not recognize. Even though the mayor was expected to appear via Skype at a Toronto birthday party in his honour, the plans were cancelled and the mayor’s brother and re-election campaign manager, Doug Ford, was present at the party instead. The mayor is signed in at a Muskoka-area rehab facility since April 30, i.e. when he announced to take an indefinite leave of absence from city hall in order to seek treatment for alcohol abuse.

In a statement, Mayor Ford alleged that “I know that I need professional help and I am now 100 per cent committed to getting myself right.” Mayor had to make up his mind after a long list of damaging reports alleging Ford recently smoked crack cocaine again, assaulted close friends, got drunk in public, and made crude remarks about wanting to “f***ing jam” his mayoral rival Karen Stintz. Mayor Ford shares a birthday with mayoral candidate John Tory, who turned 60.
