Toronto police arrested the wanted fugitive man Jerell Downey

The Toronto Fugitive Squad, in conjunction with the Provincial Rope Squad (R.O.P.E.), received information from the Hamilton Fugitive Apprehension Unit that a man may be hiding with his family in the Malvern area of Toronto.

On Wednesday, June 4, 2014, members of the Toronto Fugitive Squad, R.O.P.E. Squad and 42 Division PRU, located and arrested Jerell Downey, 21, of Toronto.

It is alleged that:

– on Saturday, May 25, 2013, he was at an address on Emerson Street in Hamilton

– he became embroiled in an argument with a woman, 21

– he punched her, repeatedly, and threw her down the stairs

– he fled in an unknown direction

A warrant was issued for his arrest for:

1) Assault Causing Bodily Harm
2) two counts of Assault

It is further alleged that:

– on Saturday, May 10, 2014, two men were in their basement apartment in the Tindale Court and Quigley Road area

– three men entered the home uninvited

– they were asked to leave and an argument ensued

– one of the men, Jerell Downey, produced a knife and stabbed the resident numerous times

– he fled the scene

A warrant was issued for his arrest for:

1) Aggravated Assault (Stabbing)
2) Assault with a Weapon
3) Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling

He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Thursday, June 5, 2014, room 101, 10 a.m.
