Two Hamilton men John Pham and Somlack Litthimane charged with second degree murder

On Thursday, June 5, 2014, two men were arrested in connection to Homicide #49/2013.

It is alleged that:

– on Monday, September 30, 2013, at approximately 3:30 a.m., the Toronto Police Service investigated a report of an aggravated assault of three victims in the Spadina Avenue and Baldwin Street area:

– the victims had attended a restaurant in this area after spending the evening at a nightclub on Adelaide Street West

– while out front of the restaurant, the group became involved in a physical altercation with a second group of males

– during the altercation, the victims were struck with a baseball bat

– witnesses to the assault called 9-1-1

– Toronto E.M.S., along with officers from 52 Division, responded to the area and started an investigation

One of the victims, Danny La, 22, succumbed to his injuries and the Homicide Squad continued the investigation.

On Thursday, June 5, 2014 two arrests were made.

John Pham, 24, of Hamilton, was charged with:

1) Second-Degree Murder
2) Attempted Murder
3) Aggravated Assault

Somlack Litthimane, 24, of Hamilton, was charged with:

1) Second-Degree Murder
2) Attempted Murder
3) Aggravated Assault

Both accused appeared in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Friday, June 6, 2014, and were remanded to Old City Hall Court, Courtroom 111 on July, 29, 2014 at 2 p.m.

The investigation into this murder is ongoing and investigators are asking anyone with information to contact Homicide.
