Saskatoon driver Brian Okemahwasin charged with impaired driving causing death for a fatal collision incident at Albert Street

At the request of the family, the Regina Police Service is releasing the name of the victim in yesterday’s fatal motor vehicle collision, which occurred at Albert Street and 6th Avenue North. The collision happened just before 7:00 a.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014.

The victim is 72 year-old Garry Robert Tatham, DOB: 1942-02-10, of Regina. Mr. Tatham was the driver of a vehicle, south-bound on Albert Street, stopped for a traffic light at 6th Avenue North. A second vehicle, also south-bound on Albert Street, struck the back of Mr. Tatham’s vehicle. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 41 year-old driver of the second vehicle was arrested at the scene and, upon further investigation, charged.

Forty-one year-old Brian Okemahwasin, DOB: 1972-12-16, of Saskatoon is charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Section 249(4), CC; and Driving While Impaired Causing Death, Section 255(3) CC. The accused made his first court appearance on the charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2014.
