Elderly Whitcurch-Stouffville driver dies in a fatal single vehicle collision in the Town of Whitcurch-Stouffville

Investigators with the York Regional Police Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses after a fatal collision yesterday involving a single motor vehicle in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.

On Thursday, June 19, 2014, at 5:45 a.m., York Regional Police responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision at a roundabout that links the roadways of Ballantrae Common and The Masters South. Responding officers found that a vehicle had been driven into the roundabout, causing it to flip on its side and then become engulfed in flames.

The lone occupant of the vehicle, a 64-year-old-man from the Town of Whitcurch-Stouffville, was found dead at the scene.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation. A post-mortem examination is scheduled for today.
The investigation is ongoing.
