Violent offender Daniel Boyd Sawyer now residing in Edmonton

In the interest of public safety, the Edmonton Police Service is issuing the following warning: Daniel Boyd Sawyer, 26, was recently released from a correctional facility after he completed a 48-month sentence for criminal convictions including manslaughter, assault with a weapon and drug trafficking.
 
Sawyer is considered by police to be a violent offender who poses a risk of significant harm to the community and will be monitored by the EPS Behavioural Assessment Unit.
The Edmonton Police Service is issuing this information and warning after careful deliberation of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform the members of the community about Sawyer who may be residing in Edmonton.

Sawyer is an Aboriginal male, 5’8”, 170 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes, and numerous tattoos.

Members of the public are advised that the intent of this process is to enable citizens to take suitable precautionary measures. Releasing this information is NOT intended to encourage people to engage in any form of vigilante action .
