The Toronto Police Service would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance with a Child Exploitation investigation.

It is alleged that:
– a teacher at Bendale Business and Technical Institute, 1555 Midland Avenue, entered into a sexual relationship with a female student under the age of 18
On Friday, June 13, 2014, the Child and Youth Advocacy Centre arrested the teacher, Matthew Elms, 39, of Toronto. He was charged with:
1) Sexual Exploitation
He has since been released on bail with conditions forbidding him from being in a position of trust or authority to anyone under the age of 18.
He is scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West, on Friday, July 25, at 1 p.m.
He has been a teacher with the Toronto District School Board since 2000, and has also taught at Martingrove Collegiate Institute, 50 Winterton Drive.
Police believe there may be more victims.
Subsequent to the news release, tips from the public have been investigated. On July 7, 2014, as a result of this new information, Matthew Elms, 39, was arrested by officers from the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre.
It is further alleged that:
– he entered into a sexual relationship with another female student under the age of 18
He now faces the added charge of:
1) Sexual Exploitation
He was scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue on Monday, July 7, 2014, at 10 a.m.
Police believe there may be more victims.
