Toronto man Renardo Cole faces ten counts in connection to human trafficking investigation

On Wednesday, July 7, 2014, the Toronto Police Service Human Trafficking Enforcement Team started an investigation into a Human Trafficking occurrence. 

It is alleged that:

– a woman, 19, was forced into prostitution by a man

– she was coerced into prostitution by means of threats 

– she was physically assaulted and intimidated

– she was forced to give over $100,000 to him

– her identification, cell phone, computer, and house keys were also taken

On Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at 11:30 p.m., a search warrant was executed and Renardo Cole, 28, of Toronto, was arrested. The woman’s property and a large sum of money were located. 

He has been charged with:

1) Trafficking in Persons
2) Trafficking in Person Receive a Material Benefit
3) Procure a Person to Become a Prostitute
4) Exercise Control
5) Living on Avails of Prostitution
6) Uttering a Death Threat
7) Assault
8) Theft Under
9) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
10) Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime

On Thursday, July 10, 2014, he appeared in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West.

Police believe there may be more victims.
