Well-known Tory politician, Sydney River-Mira-Louisbourg MLA Alfie MacLeod, has formally confirmed the news about him receiving treatment at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Communication official with the Nova Scotia Progressive Conservative Party, Jennifer Edge, revealed that he is anticipated to remain in the hospital for a short while until his health issues are resolved.
Edge mentioned that “he’s doing good – he’s alright” and elaborated that “for the most part, everything is personal and private as far as what the details are. He does have a very serious infection – he’ll likely be there for a little while. He just wants his constituents to know that he wasn’t leaving them hanging but that he had to deal with some health matters.”
According to a press release issued by MacLeod, his office will remain open during his illness and he hopes to be back to work as soon as possible. MacLeod stated “I am committed to a full recovery and resuming my MLA duties as soon as possible, but for now, my health and my family must come first.” He elucidated that “my office will continue to be open with regular business hours to serve my constituents during my recovery. I fully expect to be back on the job full-time, as soon as my health permits. To my friends and supporters, I wish to thank for your concern. I know you will understand, this is a time for private recovery with my family. I look forward to seeing you all soon.”
