Suspect Cory Galea charged with attempt murder

On Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at approximately 12:30 a.m., two men were walking in the Yonge Street/Dundas Street area.

– a 33-year-old man, walking in the same area, inadvertently bumped shoulders with one of the men while texting on his phone 

– the man he bumped into took exception as a perceived slight and attacked the victim 

– the man was able to defend himself from both his attackers 

– the two took exception to the defence 

– one of the men then stabbed the 33-year-old man in the heart 

He was taken to hospital in critical condition. 

On Thursday, August 14, 2014, at approximately 4:15 p.m., Cory Galea, 21, of no fixed address, surrendered to police at 52 Division with his lawyer.

He was arrested and has been charged with:

1) Attempt Murder
2) Aggravated Assault
3) Carry Concealed Weapon
4) Possession of a Weapon

He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Friday, August 15, 2014, at 10 a.m., room 101
