Former boxing champion Mike Tyson once again burst out at a reporter on live TV in Toronto on Wednesday after being questioned about his well-known rape conviction. Only a day after having a high-profile meeting with Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, Tyson was asked by anchor, Nathan Downer, during a live show that “some of your critics would say, ‘There’s a race for mayor. We know you’re a convicted rapist. This could hurt his campaign.’ What would you say to that?”
In response to the question, Mr. Tyson failed to control himself and burst saying “it’s so interesting, you come off like a nice guy,” adding that “but that was really a piece of s–t, that comment. F–k you.” Thereafter, when he was reminded by Mr. Downer that they were on live TV, Mr. Tyson once again stated that “I don’t care. What are you going to do about it?”
Consequently in order to ease out the situation, Mr. Tyson’s handler attempted to change the topic and shift the conversation to Toronto boxing legend, George Chuvalo. However, former heavyweight champion infamous for his outbursts at journalists failed to be swayed and continued his outbreak. He alleged that “it’s more nerve-racking for me to sit here talking to a rat piece of s–t like you.” While cutting the interview short, the show host mentioned in a cool tone, “C’mon, Mike.” A short while later, Mr. Downer tweeted: “unfortunately my question hurt Mike Tyson’s feelings.”
