While the current Toronto Mayor Rob Ford remains bound in a hospital room awaiting a diagnosis of the abdominal tumour that has dramatically changed the course of the upcoming election, his brother has promised to unleash a mayoral election campaign that will unseat the family’s opponents. Although Doug admitted that his brother was “in a little bit of pain,” he still asked reporters and fans to “stay tuned” as his campaign platform will be announced in coming weeks.

Doug Ford has refrained from confirming whether his platform will be similar to that of his brother Rob Ford. Rob Ford has now been transferred to Mount Sinai, where Doug acknowledged on Sunday that “it’s tough for everyone right now.” However, on the other hand, the opponents of the Ford brothers’ in the mayoral race kept busy in the realm of politics over the weekend.

There was a lively debate held among the rest of the candidates on Sunday at the Evergreen Brickworks, where both John Tory and Olivia Chow attacked the Fords. Tory grilled the Fords for their poor relations with the provincial and federal governments and their management of public housing. He mentioned that “we can’t afford four more years of the same,” adding that “we simply have to change the channel. We have to bring a breath of fresh air at city hall. The Ford era has to come to an end.” Whereas, Chow stated that “we have four years of the Ford brothers doing a lot of damage in this city.”
