Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit are asking witnesses to come forward following a shooting in the City of Vaughan.

On Tuesday, September 23, 2014, shortly after 10 p.m., York Regional Police responded to a residence on Via Borghese Street following reports that someone had been shot. When police arrived, they located two male victims in front of the residence suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the men, 32-year-old Gul Mohammed Alakoozi, from the Town of Ajax, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The second victim, a 26-year-old from the City of Toronto, was transported to hospital where he remains.

Information provided to police was that male suspects that fled on foot and likely left the area in a vehicle that was parked nearby.

The suspects are described as:

– Male, black

– Wearing dark-coloured clothing

– Dark-coloured hooded sweatshirts

Investigators have been receiving cooperation from witnesses who were in the area of the incident, but continue to ask anyone who was in the area that may have seen or heard anything to contact police+
