Canada has announced that a team of almost 120 members of the Canadian Armed Forces are all set to leave for the Middle East next week in order to join the fighting against ISIS in Iraq. According to the statement issued by Defence Minister Rob Nicholson on Saturday, the Canadian Forces’ Theater Activation Team will depart from Trenton, Ont., next week.

It was explained that the team will primarily be tasked to set up the infrastructure necessary for the commencement of Canada’s air mission. Nicholson mentioned that “the deployment of the Theatre Activation Team is a key step in arranging the initial preparations for the CAF units that will deploy in support of Operation IMPACT,” adding that “responsible for initiating the infrastructure support required in-theatre, this team plays an important role in support of our mission.”

The permission for Canada to go ahead and join the U.S.-led airstrikes against ISIS targets in Iraq for a period of up to six months was granted by the Tory-dominated House of Commons last week. It was mentioned that Canada’s mission will be primarily based out of Kuwait, where it will dedicate six CF-18s, two surveillance CP-140 Auroras, a refuelling plane and about 600 aircraft support personnel. Although the mission is not slated to include any combat troops, a small team of about 69 special ops are serving in Iraq as advisors to Iraqi troops. Almost three weeks’ time is expected for the aircrafts to be in place and ready to conduct operations.

  1. Why don’t the terrorist thugs go after corrupt governments and greedy executives ! They’re the ones creating all the problems in the world ! To go after ordinary people just doesn’t make sense !
