A 79 year old man remains in hospital suffering from multiple injuries after he was attacked and robbed overnight in East Vancouver.

Shortly before 6:30 p.m. on the evening of November 9th, a woman, living in a home facing onto the south lane of the 1600 block of E. Pender Street, became concerned when she heard thumping noises and moaning. She looked out her window and saw someone standing over a man, repeatedly punching him. She called out and the attacker ran away down the lane.

The woman and her roommate ran outside and found an elderly man lying in the lane. Initially the man was unresponsive, but came around while the woman was on the phone to 9-1-1.

Paramedics were called to attend to the victim while police launched an extensive area search. No suspect was found. The elderly man was taken to hospital suffering from a fractured elbow and facial injuries.
