Whitby man John Leek charged with sexual assault

As a result of the media release communicated to the public on October 7th, 2014, six victims have contacted the Hamilton Police and other Police organizations throughout Ontario.  Each of these individuals has identified themselves as being child victims of sexual assault at the hands of John Leek.  All of the reported offences are historical in nature.

The accused is identified as having worked for the Hamilton, Peel and Durham District School Boards and the Hamilton District Christian High School.  The accused has held positions as a Teacher, Truancy Counsellor, Vice Principal and Principal.  Further information has also been obtained that the accused has had an active role in several children’s choirs throughout the province.  The accused has been employed with the Anglican Church as an organist and has volunteered with several agencies where his position has put him in contact with children. 

Hamilton Police have investigated these new reported offences and on October 23rd, 2014, the accused was arrested, charged and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

 – Indecent Assault on a Male x 1

 – Gross Indecency x 1

Additional Charges:   

– Sexual Assault x 1

– Sexual Interference x 1

– Indecent Assault on a Male x 7

– Gross Indecency x 7

The Hamilton Police Service Victims of Crime Unit continue to investigate and believe that there may be more victims that had contact with John Leek.
