An 84-year-old Seagrave woman suffered fatal injuries as a result of a motor vehicle collision in the Township of Scugog.

On Thursday, October 30, 2014, at approximately 2:53 p.m., officers from North Division were called to Simcoe Street and Whitfield Road for a collision involving a dump truck and a car. A red Kenworth dumptruck, driven by a 38-year-old Lindsay man, was driving southbound on Simcoe Street when a blue Hyundai sedan, driven by an 84-year-old Seagrave woman, made an unexpected movement into the southbound lane.

The woman was transported to a local hospital by ambulance and later transported by air to a Toronto area trauma centre, but succumbed to her injuries. The male driver was not physically injured.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The scene was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
