Police have announced to have arrested a 44-year-old man suspected to be involved in a failed robbery attempt of a Toronto steakhouse owner, Arron Barberian, who fought off the suspect “hockey-fight style.” The incident took place in the area of Yonge and Elm Streets, i.e. near the Toronto Eaton Centre, on Monday with the owner of Barberian’s Steak house and the Three Little Pigs sandwich shop.

Mr. Barberian was carrying a till full of cash from his Elm Street steakhouse to the sandwich shop when he was approached by a male suspect. According to Barberian, the suspect did not seem to have a weapon so he decided to take matters into his own hands. He said that “I grabbed him basically by the back of his jersey and kind of hockey-fight style dragged him around and rag-dolled him, and threw him down a couple of times.” Barberian managed to remain uninjured in the scuffle. The incident was caught on security surveillance camera from two different angles in two videos, which were later uploaded to YouTube with the titles “Smack Down” and “Smack Down 2.”

Barberian alleged that he attempted to hold onto the suspect until police arrived, but he fled the scene. Thereafter, the video shows Barberian and one of his staff member chasing the suspect while banknotes spilled onto the ground. In addition to that, the steakhouse owner also dropped his cellphone during the chase, which was picked up by a woman wearing a black jacket and pants but has not been returned to him since.
