Ontario Court Justice, Diane Lahaie, announced in her conclusion on Wednesday to have decided to send convicted teen pimp ringleader, 18-year-old Kailey Oliver-Machado, in a federal prison to serve the rest of her sentence. According to Justice Lahaie, she highly doubts that Oliver-Machado will opt for the necessary help that she obviously needs in case she is left in a youth or provincial jail.

Convicted as a youth at the time, prosecutors had asked the court to award Oliver-Machado an adult sentence now that she was 18. In her remarks, Lahaie explained that she was not convinced that Oliver-Machado would partake in voluntary rehabilitation programs in the youth or provincial system since she did not have anything to gain from the court anymore. According to the mother of Oliver-Machado’s youngest 13-year-old victim, she was “extremely happy” with the decision and stressed that “that is where she needs to be.” She alleged that “let’s hope to God it never happens again and she gets the help that she needs.”

On the other hand, Oliver-Machado’s lawyer, Ken Hall, said that his client was “resolved” that she may be sent to a federal prison. He explained that “I have certain reservations about her being in a federal prison with hardened women. In my mind she’s still a 15 1/2-year-old girl.” Oliver-Machado was one of the three teens operating as a group of pimps who resorted to violence and threats to force other girls to perform sex acts on johns for money.
