London Corrections Officer charged with drug trafficking

On Saturday, February 14, 2015, police were called to the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre, located at 711 Exeter Road, in relation to an investigation involving a Corrections Officer providing drugs to an inmate.

As a result of their investigation, on Thursday, February 19, 2015, police arrested Corrections Officer, Tanya Zavitz (36) of London, and charged her with three counts of trafficking a controlled substance contrary to section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Seized drugs:
– 17 grams of marihuana bud, value $170.
– 22 grams of marihuana resin, value $330.
– 1 gram of hash, value $15.

Tanya Zavitz has been released from custody with a court date of April 3, 2015.
