Police bust a major date rape drug ring in Whitby

USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Sixteen litres of the date rape drug GHB were seized and four people arrested following a drug investigation led by the Central West Division Target Team.

On February 27, 2015, members of the Central West Division Target Team observed a drug transaction in downtown Whitby. Two parties were arrested following the transaction and were found to be in possession of four litres of Gamma Hydroxybutyrate (GHB), commonly known as "the date rape drug. This chemical is odorless and tasteless and if mixed in a drink, can render someone unconscious for a period of time. It is also used by some bodybuilders to counteract the effects of steroids.

As a result of the investigation, two CDSA search warrants were executed for a residence on Cochrane Street and a related motor vehicle by the Target Team, with the assistance of the Gun and Gang Enforcement Unit, the Tactical Support Unit and a K-9 team.

In total, 16 litres of GHB, 27.8 grams of cocaine, 27.5 grams of marihuana, and 5.7 grams of psilocybin was seized. The total street-level value of the drugs is about $7,700. A total of $4,300 in Canadian currency was also seized. In total, two men and two women were arrested and charged.

Preston DALEY, age 27, of Cochrane Street in Whitby, Kadri PEARCE-LAWRENCE, age 22 of Cochrane Street in Whitby, Daniel CRAWFORD, age 29 of Dunlop Street West in Whitby, and Lacey BIGGAR, age 30 of Dunlop Street West in Whitby are all facing multiple drug-related charges and were held for bail hearings.
