On Monday December 6, 2010 at approximately 7:40 p.m. two disguised suspects, one male and female entered the Family Convenience store on Park Road South in Oshawa where the male suspect, armed with a knife demanded cash from the victim. No one was physically injured during the robbery and both suspects fled empty-handed and drove away from the scene.
A short time later, at approximately 8:20 p.m. both disguised suspects entered Foodworth’s variety store on Trulls Road in Courtice and demanded cash and cigarettes from the victim. The male suspect brandished a knife but no one was physically injured during the robbery. Both suspects fled the scene in a motor vehicle and failed to stop for police. The suspects abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot but were pursued by officers including K-9, who located and arrested both, without incident.
Further investigation revealed both suspects had been involved in a theft of gas incident at the Husky Gas station on Bayly Street in Pickering during the early morning hours of December 6th. (10-247676)
Mackenzie BRANTON, age 30 of Ormond Drive in Oshawa and Kristi STRANG, age 34 of Rideau Street in Oshawa are jointly charged with: Robbery with Offensive Weapon x2; Wear Disguise with Intent x2 and Weapons Dangerous x2. BRANTON is further charged with Flight from Police and Theft Under $5,000. Both accused were held for a bail hearing.
