About 4:30 this afternoon, the lockdown at Gladstone Secondary was lifted and relieved parents were reunited with their children outside the school.

No suspicious person was found and there was no indication of any weapons at any time.

The VPD wants to thank the parents of the students for their patience during what would be a very concerning time.

The Department worked closely with the Vancouver School Board to ensure the safety of the students.

Update:

Vancouver Police are presently conducting a detailed search of Gladstone Secondary School after a report that a male, who is not believed to be a student, entered the building. A lockdown has been initiated as a safety precaution until it can be determined if the person is actually in the building.

Additional resources have been brought in to expedite the search, including the Emergency Response Team, as it is a very large building.

Vancouver Police are reporting that Gladstone Secondary School at 4105 Gladstone Street is currently in lockdown. Police are at the school investigating a report that a suspicious person may have entered the building. More updates will follow when available.
