Northeast District RCMP arrested two women from Tracadie-Sheila on April 7, 2015, after receiving a complaint from a Tracadie-Sheila man that he was a victim of extortion.

Police arrested 52-year-old Aline Paulin and a 43-year-old woman without incident.  The 43-year-old woman was later released by police.

Aline Paulin appeared in Tracadie-Sheila Provincial Court on April 8 and was charged with extortion and identity fraud for representing herself as another person.

RCMP received a complaint from a 60-year-old man that an unknown woman had contacted him and was demanding money. If he refused to pay the money then the caller claimed that she would go public with information that could have a detrimental effect on the man’s reputation.

Aline Paulin was released on conditions and is scheduled to return to court on May 13 to enter a plea.

The investigation is continuing.
