An Edmonton Police Service (EPS) officer was charged today in relation to an alleged incident which took place on Nov. 13, 2014.
Const. Eric Vezina, a one-year member with the EPS, was charged with three counts of assault pursuant to section 266 of the Criminal Code of Canada. The charges stem from an off-duty incident at a nightclub. The constable is currently relieved from duty without pay.
The charges follow an in-depth investigation by the EPS Professional Standards Branch which was subsequently reviewed by Alberta Justice.
As the matter is currently before the courts, the EPS is not able to provide further comment or information about the incident or investigation.
