Benoit Gerard Charron charged with drug trafficking in Ottawa

The Ottawa Police Street Crime Unit conducted an investigation after receiving public complaints of drug trafficking at a residence in the 100 block of McLeod Street. The investigation led to the execution of a search warrant on December 15, 2010, assisted by the Ottawa Police Tactical Unit.

Over $16,000 in cocaine, marihuana and oxycodone were seized as well as cash, illegal cigarettes and drug paraphernalia.

Benoit Gerard CHARRON, age 60, of Ottawa, has been charged with:

1 count of Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
1 count of Possession of Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
1 count of Possession of Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
1 count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
3 counts of Failure to Comply with Recognizance

CHARRON was held for a show cause hearing and will appear in court this afternoon.

The Ottawa Housing Authority will follow up with eviction proceedings against CHARRON.
