Two teenagers arrested for sexual assault at Heritage LRT platform, Calgary

The Calgary Police Service has charged two youths following a sexual assault that occurred in the southwest over the weekend.

At approximately 3:40 a.m., on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, two males approached a female on the Heritage LRT platform and one of them sexually assaulted her.

Following a media appeal for information, police received a tip from a member of public identifying two potential suspects.

The two suspects were arrested on Sunday evening.

Both males are 15 years old and therefore, cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

One has been charged with sexual assault and one has been charged with being party to a sexual assault.

They have been remanded in custody and their next court appearance is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010.

Police continue to investigate a robbery that occurred at the same time on the LRT platform.

At this point, police have not been able to identify the male victim and are appealing for him to come forward.
