Calgary police issue warrants for the murder of Maqsood Ahmed

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit has issued warrants for a man wanted in connection with a 2014 robbery and murder.

Jean Bertrand HAVYARIMANA, 19, of no fixed address in Calgary, is being sought for the robbery and second-degree murder of Maqsood AHMED.

At approximately 9:40 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, AHMED and a female co-worker were closing up a business in the 4700 block of Westwinds Drive N.E. AHMED was leaving on foot with cash and receipts when he was approached and attacked by two men. He was robbed of his cash and stabbed.

AHMED, 55, was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The woman, an employee of the company was uninjured.

HAVYARIMANA is black, 5’5” tall and 130 pounds, with a slim build. He has brown eyes and black hair. A photo of HAVYARIMANA is available on The City of Calgary Newsroom.

Last week, police arrested and charged Lloyd Kollie, 19, with robbery and second-degree murder in connection with AHMED’s homicide.

This investigation is ongoing and further arrests are expected.
