Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a male suspect in a home invasion at 8601 Broadway #1207 about 10:50 p.m. on Thursday (Dec. 30).

The suspect, Miguel Antonio Valencia-Mejia, 33, of Houston, suffered a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one else was injured.

HPD Homicide Division Officers M.R. Coleman and M.P. Condon reported:

An unknown female knocked on the apartment door at the above address and then hid from view. A woman inside the apartment looked through the peephole and, not seeing anyone outside, opened the door. The suspect, Miguel Antonio Valencia-Mejia, entered the apartment, grabbed the woman’s hair and pointed a pistol at her head. A male resident then exited the bedroom and, fearing for his girlfriend’s life, shot the suspect one time with a rifle.

No charges have been filed in this case.
