On December 31st, 2010 at approximately 7:00 p.m. patrolling officers observed a vehicle that had been stolen a few hours earlier being driven in an erratic manner in the area of Selkirk Avenue and King Edward Street.

The vehicle was being driven at a high rate of speed, and had passed through several stop signs and red lights as reported by witnesses.

Police deployed a Stop-Stick in the area of Manitoba Avenue and Keewatin Street which resulted in the front tire of the suspect vehicle being deflated.

The vehicle continued driving south on Keewatin reaching speeds approaching 130 km/h. The driver eventually lost control of the vehicle in the area of Lincoln Avenue and Jordan Street after colliding with a snow bank. Two suspects were subsequently arrested a short distance from the vehicle.

A 19 year old Winnipeg male has been charged with the following offences:
Theft over $5000
Flight from Police Officer
Possess Proceeds of Crime
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine)
Breaches of Court Conditions x 8
Drive While Disqualified (HTA)
A 17 year old male youth was charged with:
Theft over $5000
Possession of Break-in Instruments

Both accused are High Risk – Level 4 Offenders and were detained in custody.
