Two men arrested for New Year’s day murder in Calgary

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is currently investigating the shooting death of a man on New Year’s Day.

At approximately 1:05 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, police responded to reports of gunshots at the intersection of 3 Avenue and 3 Street S.W. The victim, a man in his late 30s, was found in the middle of the street suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

A second victim was found in a vehicle at 4 Street and 3 Avenue S.W. The man, in his early 30s, was also taken to hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. He is currently in stable condition.

Police arrested two men found near the scene, but a third person is still being sought. The two in custody are currently being interviewed by investigators and no charges have been laid.

A number of witnesses have also been interviewed.

  1. A Calgary murder a block from where you were at the same time on new years eve. When you are old you get more cautious. When you are young some people are far to complacent.
    A 30 yr old person your mom works with was in a truck when they slcomment_ID on black ice and crashed Down the embankment and drowned near our mountain bike trail at Goat .creek Canmore.
