Charges are pending against a 22 year old male, residence of Calgary after the CPS received a complaint that a female was being unlawfully confined in a vehicle in the NE. A District 5 Unit was flagged down at approximately 00:20 by a female who stated that she had received a text message from her girlfriend, who being held against her will, in a truck being driven by her boyfriend.

Through investigation a District 4 Unit located a mobile stolen pick up truck near 64th Ave and 36 St at approximately 0110 hours. Investigators determined that the vehicle contained the 22 year old victim and the offender. Attempts were made to stop the vehicle which fled from responding units. A brief pursuit ensued with the car crews being supported by K-9 and HAWC 1. The vehicle crashed a short time later and the offender attempted to evade police on foot.

After a lengthy foot chase the offender was apprehended without incident. The victim was located in the vehicle. Neither the victim or offender were injured in the incident. Subsequent investigation has resulted in a seizure of a shotgun, knife and pepper spray. District 5 GIU has lead in this matter.
