On Friday, February 4, 2011, The Honourable Alexander Sosna of the Superior Court of Justice sentenced Antonio MASTRONARDI, to nine months in jail. Mr. MASTRONARDI had previously appeared in court on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, in the City of Oshawa. During that appearance, he was found guilty of Fraud Over $5,000 and Accepting a Secret Commission.
Between Wednesday, August 1, 2001 and Monday, December 10, 2001, Mr. MASTRONARDI influenced the reduction of WSIB insurance premiums for a Vaughan construction company in exchange for $40,000 cash and $5,350 in vehicle repairs. The fraud was perpetrated by using a group reclassification which resulted in substantial savings to the construction company. The fraud totalled almost $130,000.
On Friday, November 8, 2002, investigators with the York Regional Police Major Fraud Unit, on a referral from the WSIB Special Investigations Branch, arrested and charged Mr. MASTRONARDI
