An early-morning shooting in Mississauga has killed a 30-year-old man and sent three others to hospital with gunshot wounds today. According to the police, they received report about a shooting at a townhouse complex near Goreway and Morning Star drives at around 5:30 a.m.
According to officers who arrived at the scene first, a man was found lying on the ground outside the residence and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Thereafter, the victim was immediately rushed to the hospital but he succumbed to injuries. Whereas three other victims were also treated for non-life-threatening injuries in the general vicinity. Const. Rachel Gibbs explained that “we have received multiple calls in the past to this address for various reports. It is believed that there may have been some after-hours activity going on at this address we are investigating that.”
Gibbs alleged it’s too soon to comment on whether or not the shooting might have been gang-related. However, she did confirm that homicide detectives are exploring the possibility. Gibbs updated that investigators are canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses right now and hoping that someone may have seen what happened. Whereas, forensic officers have also arrived on scene to collect any actionable evidence. In a public appeal, Gibbs stressed that “if anybody knows anything or has any information we would encourage them to call police.” However, police failed to provide any description of the suspect or suspects related to the incident.
