calgary mom found dead, amber-alert issued for 5-year-old girlCalgary police has issued an Alberta-wide Amber Alert for a missing five-year-old girl, Taliyah Leigh Marsman, suspected of being abducted from the community of Panorama Hills, where her mother was found dead. Police found Marsman’s mother, reportedly 34-year-old Sara Baillie, dead on Monday and issued the alert shortly after 1:30 a.m. MDT on Tuesday. Marsman was last seen by a family member at around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.

According to police, it believes that Marsman was abducted by an unknown person from the 1000 block of Panamount Boulevard N.W. Police was called to the scene at around 8:30 p.m. on Monday, when family members complained they were unable to reach the young girl’s mother. In a press conference on Tuesday, Inspector Don Coleman of the Calgary Police Service Major Crimes section mentioned that “the victim didn’t show up for work” and upon arriving at their home, police found Marsman‘s mother dead.

According to Baillie’s landlord, they lived in a basement suite in Panorama Hills and he last saw them last week when they came home with groceries. Olumuyiwa Dada explained that they were good tenants and there was “No stress. No problems.” Dada alleged that “I’m really in shock.” Police has revealed that there were no sign of forced entry at the home. Coleman updated that “at this point, it’s still early in the investigation” and “we’re not ruling out anybody as a suspect, and we’re looking at all avenues.” He added that “we’ve looked at and spoken to several family members.”
